Splitsville! for Eva and Tony

Long distance relationship was apparently taking its toll on the couple...

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker have split up, a source close to the couple tells People magazine.
“They did break up. It’s amicable,” the source says, adding, “They are talking and trying to figure the best course of action for their future. They are trying to work things out. It’s distance and demanding careers and not living in same city.” The source goes on to say that “It didn’t happen yesterday. It’s been going on for a while.” In an earlier statement issued by Longoria’s rep Liza Anderson on Friday, said, “Eva and Tony are going through a very difficult time right now, just like any other couple with extremely demanding careers.” However, a source close to Parker told People earlier on Friday that Parker said rumours of a break-up were not true.

While Desperate Housewives has been filming in Los Angeles, the San Antonio Spurs departed Texas on Friday afternoon to begin a training camp in France.
Before leaving, Parker joined his team at a “media day” for sportswriters near the San Antonio International Airport, though he did not discuss his relationship with Longoria.
Longoria, 31, and Parker, 24, met in November 2004 and, though they played coy at first, by August 2005, Longoria had confirmed they were a couple.

That sink feeling

Winslet bruises herself after filming sex scene in a sink

London: Actress Kate Winslet was hurt after filming a sex scene in a sink for the movie Little Children. According to contactmusic.com, Winslet had to act with actor Patrick Wilson in the movie. The scene was shot in a laundry room and was far from sexy. She says: “We both had little coverings on areas we didn't want people to see.
“We rehearsed the scene fully clothed, without anyone in the room — just us and (director) Todd (Field). We did look out for each other and we laughed a hell of a lot. It sounds ridiculous but at a certain point you forget that you're naked with a relative stranger. “It's really weird. My hips and backside really hurt the next day. They put some pad across the front of the seat and I was sitting on something slightly cushioned. It's all so ridiculous this crazy job we do for a living.”

I am hungry (for fame i.e.)

Ashlee Simpson insists she’s like her fame-hungry charcter in the West End production of Chicago

Pop star Ashlee Simpson made her West End debut in the London production of Chicago recently, and insists her fame-hungry character is just like her. The singer plays murderous Roxie Hart in the show and reveals she has lots in common with the ambitious villainess. She says, “The play is absolutely all about celebrity and wanting to be famous and having your name in the papers and your picture in the papers. “In that sense, it's been kind of cool because I've really got to connect to that, because I've seen that world and been in that world.”

Is Superman’s ‘lady love’ too skinny?

When Kate Bosworth turned up at New York City’s Fashion Week recently, the star’s startling slim appearance concerned friends and onlookers.
Admittedly, the Superman Returns actress had been having a rough few weeks. First came her breakup with longtime boyfriend Orlando Bloom. Then came what she thought was an attack of allergies, but “I think it turned into a little sickness”, Bosworth told People. Still, some were concerned as the actress made the runway-show rounds and stopped in at the after parties. “She’s so small, it’s frightening,” says one insider who saw her at Fashion Week.

One possible reason: With her recent split, “she’s emotionally and physically strained,” says the source. And although the 23-year-old actress’s rep declined to comment on her weight, Bosworth has spoken in the past about pressure to be thin.
“I think part of being an actress (is) that your body’s your tool,” she told Showbiz Tonight in July. But since Bosworth hasn’t filmed anything in more than a year now, some are hoping she will take a closer look at herself. “Every time I saw her,” says the source, “I kept thinking, ‘Please eat something’.”

Why Barbra why?

Streisand shows what not to wear

You would think that by the age of 64, most women would be self-conscious enough to ensure their choice of evening wear does not expose parts of the body which have... well dropped below standards.
But no one seems to have shared this with legendary entertainer Barbra Streisand as she stepped out in this rather unflattering black dress at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York.
Streisand seemed to forget what a photographer's flash can do to a black dress as she unwittingly revealed she had left a vital piece of her undergarments tucked away in her drawer at home.
But this was not the first time Streisand has been left embarrassed by the camera.
Last month she was snapped outside her LA home looking like she had given her make-up artist and hairdresser the day off.

Ex Factor

Jessica Simpson says she still sleeps in her ex-husband’s shirts
While she has been separated from US singer Nick Lachey for nearly a year, Jessica Simpson admits she still finds comfort sleeping in her ex-husband's shirts. Contactmusic.com reported that 26-year-old Simpson said that while she has moved on from her divorce from the former 98 Degrees singer, she still keeps his T-shirts around to sleep in and remind her of their marriage. “I still have some of them,” the Public Affair singer said of the shirts. “I don’t throw away things. I love Nick with all my heart. He's still a dear friend.”Since becoming separated last November and officially divorced this June from the 32-year-old singer, Simpson has been romantically linked to several men but she said she will always remember her ex-husband. “He's part of who I am. He's a part of what happened to me,” she explained to Teen Hollywood. “We grew up together. I fell in love with him when I was 19. That's young.”

Paris Hilton admits she is stupid

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton has admitted something the rest of the world already knew — she’s not that bright.

The 25-year-old star of The Simple Life made her confession to cops quizzing her about a burglary at the home of Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis. She was hailed as a crime-fighter when she told Francis, who has made a fortune selling raunchy videos of topless college girls partying, that she had overheard that a Hollywood hanger-on called Darnell Riley had boasted of breaking into his house. But when she was quizzed by Los Angeles police it emerged she wasn’t a reliable witness as she could not remember what happened. “Like I really, I don't remember,” she said on police tapes. “I'm not, like, that smart. I forget stuff all the time.” Riley was arrested after Hilton's tip-off, and earlier this year was sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison.

But she’s generous
It might be presumed that Paris Hilton has a fair bit of cash in her piggy bank. But she doesn't just keep it all to herself...When a homeless man in Hollywood cheekily asked her for $100, she was happy to splash said cash.Apparently, he dashed up to the socialite's car as she was leaving a McDonald's.According to TMZ.com, the homeless man dropped his request to a modest $1, but it seems Ms Hilton was in a generous mood.A source at the scene said: “Paris reached down beside her and handed the man a crumpled $100 bill.“She then stopped to pose for pictures with the homeless guy, who offered to wash her windows, before racing off.”

Emma is sick of having to look good

Emma is sick of having to look good

Emma Thompson has revealed the enormous pressure she is under to remain stick thin and look impossibly youthful to survive in Hollywood.

Asked how she liked doing big American studio films as she promoted her latest, Stranger Than Fiction, the 47-year-old actress replied: “It’s such a burden having to look good. Especially on screen because what if you have a bad night’s sleep? I think I could do it in France because in France women are allowed to have really big bags under their eyes like mine and they're allowed to be older and still be female and beautiful and sexy and everything.

“But in America everybody wants you to be twelve and size zero and it's like, no, I don't like it.” The double Oscar-winning actress, who has a daughter Gaia, seven, with her second husband Greg Wise, continued: “In some of the shots you can see my chin all folded up and I thought 'ooh perhaps a little plastic surgery' but what I want to see on screen is real faces doing real things”.

Winslet feels the same

Her sentiments were echoed by fellow British actress Kate Winslet. Miss Winslet, 31, speaking at the Toronto Film Festival at the weekend, said: “When you're acting, you have to be able to move your face.” “You have to be able to communicate your emotions through your expressions, and I would hate to have that taken away. I've no intention of getting carved up or injected, thank you very much.”

Celebs under pressure

Czech model Petra Nemcova says she struggled to stay thin to keep career going

New York: Petra Nemcova knows what it is like to struggle to stay thin and continue modelling.
“I'm naturally more curvy, so I always had to lose weight,” the 27-year-old Czech supermodel says in People magazine's October issue. “I took laxatives. I went through all of it just to be able to model.” Nemcova would not have faced that problem at this year's Madrid Fashion Week, where models deemed too skinny were banned from the runways. The Association of Fashion Designers of Spain said it wanted models to project “an image of beauty and health” and shun a gaunt, emaciated look.Nemcova appeared on the cover of the 2003 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She has appeared in magazines including Vogue and Marie Claire, and has modelled for Victoria's Secret.
